Diving and Jumping at Blackrock, Sathill
Go jumping off the diving towers into the sea. This is where we all went to every day at high tide. Check out the tides here, you can normally jump within an hour, sometimes 2, depending on the height of the tide. The towers are around 15 minutes walk from the house along the prom.
Walking Salthill Prom
5 mile round trip along the prom, passing some of the sights of Galway, such as Blackrock diving towers, Silver Strand beaches, the Bearna woods, Rusheen Bay and the Galway Golf Course
Galway Market on Saturdays
Located in the laneway between Shop Street ad Market street, the Galway market happens every Saturday. There are normally around 20 stalls wth fresh fish, pasta, cheeses, jams, fresh organic vegetables, fruit and food and food stands from around the world, art, jewellery, clothes and much much more.
Traditional Music Galway
Galway is renowned for it's amazing traditional music sessions, with insane talent playing in town at various hot spots and on the streets it is a vibrant, lively city with some of the best talent from around the world. Be sure to check out

Carrolls - Dominc Street, 5 minutes walk from the house.
O’Connor’s Famous Pub - mainly cover bands.
The Crane - extremely well renowned trad music venue. Pop in any time to see if there's a session on. There are 2 floors to choose from, the upstairs doesn't normally open until the evening.
The Quays - mainly cover bands
Tigh Coili - sessions are on every night and at the weekends during the day. This is a very traditional, tiny bar based bang in the middle of the city centre, with a fantastic great atmosphere. Tends to be very busy.

Galway Christmas Market
Normally on around 20th November - 20th December the Galway Christmas market is based around Eyre Square and at the Spanish Arches in Galway City Centre. There is a fantastic vibe, delicious food and drink. It's a great place to go and have a drink and a ramble for Christmas presents.

Cliffs of Moher, County Clare
The cliffs stand at 214 meters at their highest point and stretch for 8 miles. These amazing views must not be missed if you visit Galway.

Aran Islands Day Tour
The Aran islands are a group of 3 islands off the West coast of Ireland. They are made up of limestone, and resemble the landscape of the Burren. You can fly or get the passenger ferry out to the islands for a day trip, or to stay overnight. Check out the Aran islands site for more details.
We normally get the passenger ferry and hire bikes at the dock.
The movie The Banshees of Inisherin was filmed in Inishmore in 2021 and also on Achill Island.
The Red bull cliff diving championships in Ireland were held in Inis Mor, at the natural rock pool called Pol Na Beisht.
